Sibelius Monument Photo Gallery












In the Sibelius park is the world famous composer Jean Sibelius' (1865-1957) monument by Eila Hiltunen. It was unveiled 7.9.1967. The Sibelius Monument, recembling organ pipes, is made of welded steel with the bust of the composer on one side. The monument is one of Helsinki's most popular statues and one of the most well known tourist attractions. The monument is 8,5m high, 10,5m wide and 6,5m deep. It is built of over 600 pipes and weighs 24 tons.

Helsinki Cathedral - Helsingin tuomiokirkko, Suurkirkko is the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran cathedral of the Diocese of Helsinki, located in the neighbourhood of Kruununhaka in the centre of Helsinki, Finland. The church was originally built from 1830-1852 as a tribute to the Grand Duke of Finland, Tsar Nicholas I of Russia. It was also known as St Nicholas' Church until the independence of Finland in 1917.

Kaivopuisto is oldest and best known park in Helsinki. The nearby sea, rock cliffs and green lawns offer many opportunities to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

At the highest point of the park is the Ursa Observatory. There are several cafées and restaurants along the shore and on the islands.
